Silchar, City triumph

Guwahati, May 8: City Cricket Coaching Centre and Silchar DSA Cricket Academy posted victories in their respective matches of the first All Assam under-14 inter-coaching centre cricket tournament at Nehru Stadium and Barsapara Cricket Stadium respectively today.

In the two matches, City CCC hammered Tezpur DCA Cricket Academy by eight-wickets while Silchar edged past S.K. Roy Academy by one wicket. Tezpur opted to bat but were restricted to 58 in 27.1 overs as none of the batsmen could reach double digits.

In reply, the City boys cruised home in 20.5 overs, losing two wickets. Anup Bhujel and Anuj Poudel were unbeaten on 18 and 14 runs respectively. For Tezpur, Gopal Gope and Aman Khan bagged a wicket each.

In another low-scoring but tight match at Barsapara, S.K. Roy Academy chose to bat and were restricted to 73 in 30.4 overs. Mandeep Hansu top-scored with 15. Silchar’s Dibakar Goala bagged four wickets for 11 runs.

Silchar lost way too many wickets for comfort but sneaked home posting 77 for nine in 25.4 overs. Mrinal Kanti Nath scored a sedate 31 off 50 balls. For S.K. Roy Academy, S. Alfred was lethal but his spell of six for 15 went in vain.
