2 suffer electric shock

Tezpur, May 8: Two persons sustained severe burn injuries after receiving electric shock while working on a 33kv power transmission line at Parua Chariali here today.

The two, identified as Jiti Bordoloi, 22, and Dipak Dekaroja, 23, of Nagaon Kathiatoli, were renovating the power line between Tezpur Depota and Tezpur main office near Padum Pukhuri here at 8.30am when the incident occurred.

Sources said both had suffered serious injuries and had been shifted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.

Both were employed by the Guwahati-based Power Infrastructure Company which was awarded the renovation contract by Assam Power Distribution Company Limited.

Other workers of the company ceased work for the day.
