Penn is relieved

Calcutta: East Bengal coach Trevor James Morgan said he was happy that his team took home full points from the AFC Cup match against Tampines Rovers.

“It’s a giant leap. These three points take us to the next round, almost. We just need a point. Let’s see how things unfold,” Morgan said at the post-match conference.

Morgan said his target would be to top the group. “Right now we have 10 from four. We are on the top of the group. If we end as league toppers then we will be playing our knock-out match at home. That will be a huge boost,” Morgan said.

Morgan, once again, was critical of the afternoon kick-off. “It was killing. It was energy-sapping, ” he said.

Penn Orji said he was not worried that East Bengal missed so many chances.

“Our focus is always three points. We were confident of winning the match. Even though after they equalised we had to press hard. The weather was not conducive for good football. I’m relieved we still made it.”
