At least 20 express trains and 115 locals leaving Howrah and Shalimar stations between 10pm on Friday and 6am on Monday have been cancelled to install a new route relay interlocking (RRI) system at Santragachhi station.
The RRI system at Santragachhi has served its 30-year lifespan. The number of routes through Santragachhi would increase from 218 to 447 after the new system is installed.
