TFA climb to second spot in I-League

Tata Football Academy (TFA) prevailed over Salgaocar to clinch a 2-0 victory in the Under-20 I-League tournament at JRD Tata Sports Complex on Wednesday. The home team outplayed Salgaocar with tactical moves, much to the delight of local supporters.

The first goal in the match came from TFA striker Udanta Singh who converted a penalty in the 12th minute. The second half showed a fiercer contest between the two teams. But, it was TFA who further consolidated their position when an accurate corner kick by Vineet Rai was headed into the net by Jermanjeet Singh.

The victory places TFA on the second position in terms of points earned in the tourney. The local team, which debuted at the I-League this year, is only behind defending champions Pune FC. While TFA has seven points from three matches, Pune tops the table with nine in three matches. Mohun Bagan is in third position with four points in three outings.

In the other fixtures of the day, Pune won a comfortable 2-0 victory over Mohun Bagan while Sesa Goa defeated East Bengal 3-0.
