Sports Olympiad draws 18 cradles

Students of 18 private cradles in the city will display their prowess in the first edition of School Sports Olympiad being organised by Rotary Club of Jamshedpur East.

The theme of meet, to be held at Sumant Moolgaonkar Stadium on March 23, is “friendship beyond boundaries”.

Besides track and field events, participants will also vie for top honours in volleyball and basketball.

“The athletes will compete in 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m and 4x400m relay. We will try to make it an annual affair. We also have plans to include government schools,” said club president Jahar Banerjee.

Tagore Academy, Little Flower School, Hill Top School, Gulmohar High School, Vig English School, Valley View School, Shiksha Niketan, Vidya Bharti Chinmaya School, Jamshedpur Public School, Kerala Samajam, Narbheram Hansraj English School, KPS (NML), KPS (Gamharia), KPS (Kadma), KPS (Mango), AIWC Academy of Excellence, SD Singh Memorial School and DBMS English School have confirmed participation.
