On a mission to equip rural youths with entrepreneurial skills, Bokaro Steel Limited on Wednesday launched a unique programme — titled Barefoot Managers — in collaboration with business partners IIM-Ranchi and Bank of India.
The five-day programme kicked off in the presence of its executive director (personnel & administration) N. Mahapatra, general manager (corporate social responsibility) P.K. Banerjee, IIM-Ranchi faculty member Arpita Sutradhar, zonal manager of Bank of India S.C. Mishra and 31 enthusiastic participants from different villages.
Barefoot Managers is the follow-up of a study conducted by the IIM on the outskirts of Bokaro to identify youths with a knack for entrepreneurship and it was discovered that they existed in good numbers. Some even displayed keen business acumen.
So, the programme was designed by IIM-Ranchi to promote marketplace and entrepreneurial literacy among low-income group and not-so-skilled individuals.
