Brahmaputra boys in semis

Guwahati, March 19: Brahmaputra Boys Club handed a five-wicket defeat to Genesis Club to book a semi-final berth in the Anairam Nunisa Guwahati Sports Association second division cricket tournament at Judges Field here today.

Put in to bat, Genesis were restricted to 123 for nine in 25 overs and Brahmaputra Boys reached 127 for five in 22.1 overs. Moses Rahang topscored for Brahmaputra Boys with a steady 34 (4x3) while Navajit Narzary and Debabrata K. Sharma remained unbeaten on 18 (4x2) and 17 (4x2) respectively.

Nitul Ali of Genesis notched up three wickets for five runs. Imamul Haq and Sanju Basfore picked up one each.

Earlier, Kishore Choudhury scored 30 (4x2, 6x1) to be the top scorer for Genesis and Sanju Basfore chipped in with 25 (4x3). Rahul Haque also scored 24 (6x1).

Saddam Hussain of Brahmaputra Boys scalped three wickets for 17 runs and Navajit Narzary claimed two for 14. In the semi-finals, Brahmaputra Boys will meet Maharana AC on Thursday while Chandmari SC will play Gauhati Town Club in the second semi-finals on Friday.
