Imphal, March 19: ESC Nongmeibung thrashed Nambul Mapal Polo Club (A) by 7-0 goals in the 29th State Level Polo Tournament, 2013 played at Mapal Kangjeibung.
The ESC team, which has experienced riders like M. Jawan Singh and Abung Khuman, had no difficulty in taming Nambul Mapal with a flurry of goals. Abung Khuman brought up an early goal for ESC in the first chukker to take a one-goal lead.
As the second chukker failed to produce goals, the next chukker saw Jawan and Khuman consolidating the lead with a goal each. Further exploiting the moment, Khuman and Jawan struck home two goals each for an easy victory.
In another match, Lamyanba Pakhang Polo Club beat Kangchup Road Youth Physical Sporting Association by 9-1 goals. Lamyanba Polo plundered the game to the hilt with K. Shyamananda and L. Tolongkhomba firing a goal each for the Lamyanba team.
The other matches saw Thangmeiband Polo Club (A) beat Nongchup Pana by 5-1 goals while Chingkhei Hunba (A) had a narrow victory over Khurai Polo Club (B) by 5-4 goals.
MCA cricket: Youth Welfare Club Langthabal posted a 34-run victory against Uripok Cricket Club in the 1st MCA Elite Cricket League 2012-13 played at Luwangpokpa Cricket Ground.
The Youth Welfare Club batted first, piling up 110/10 from 40 overs with Kishan Singh stroking 33 runs while Prafullo hit 19 runs and Bishorjit Singh fetched 17 runs. Uripok bowler Ashini Singh picked up 6 wickets while Sandeep Singh took 2 wickets.
In reply, Uripok Cricket Club was bundled out for a paltry 76 runs for 10 wickets from 27.4 overs with Ashini contributing 18 runs. Youth Welfare bowler Prasanta Singh claimed 3 wickets while Bishwas pick up 4 wickets. Youth Welfare batsman Kishan Singh was declared the Man of the Match for his 33 runs and 1 wicket haul.
