Borgaon High lift cup

Guwahati, March 19: Borgaon High School lifted the Coca-Cola Tinsukia district Inter-School Football Tournament title, defeating Senairam Higher Secondary School 6-5 via a tiebreaker in the final played at Tinsukia District Sports Association (TDSA) grounds in Tinsukia today.

The regulation time of the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

Suroj Gohain put Senairam Higher Secondary School ahead in the ninth minute but it was equalised by Pranjit Chutia of Borgaon High School in the 24th minute.

In the second half, Gohain fashioned the lead once again for Borgaon in the 51st minute.

Their lead, however, did not last long as once again Saitrajit Bora ruffled the net to score an equaliser in the 53rd minute.

In the penalty shootout, Pranjyoti Chutia, Chitrajit Chutia, Santanu Chutia and Trailokya Chutia found the net for the Borgaon school while Amun Duarah, Janmoni Baruah and Bhaskar Chutia scored goals for Senairam School.

Nabajyoti Duarah and Girin Saikia of Senairam School missed the woodwork.

Tinsukia District Sports Association president Brojen Gohain gave away the winners’ trophy and former national footballer Bipin Borah conferred away the runners-up trophy during the prize distribution ceremony.
