Tough win for TFA

Tata Football Academy (TFA) clinched a 2-1 victory over Sesa Goa when two teams locked horns at JRD Tata Sports Complex in the final round of the 6th U-20 I-league on Monday.

Other ties of Day 2, the tourney’s final round, included a clash between rivals East Bengal and Mohun Bagan at JRD Tata Sports Complex and another between Pune FC and Salgaocar at Gopal Maidan.

In the match between TFA and Sesa, the Goan club took the lead with Mauvin Borges netting the ball in the 66th minute.

However, celebrations were short-lived as TFA got a penalty and striker Udanta Singh scored the equaliser in the 76th minute. The rest of the game belonged to TFA. A header by TFA’s Baidyanath Das managed to beat the rival goalie in the 83rd minute, making the score 2-1. TFA held on to the lead till the end.

Clinical combat by Mohun Bagan against East Bengal got them a 2-0 win. The third tie between Pune FC and Salgaocar saw the former win 3-2.
