The arrest of terror suspect Manzar Imam from Ranchi and his subsequent revelations on threats to places of worship have led Ramgarh district administration to beef up security arrangements at Ma Chinnamastika Temple in Rajrappa.
District superintendent of police Anis Gupta has ordered, for the first time, deployment of five constables led by an assistant sub-inspector on the temple premises.
Besides the police team, the district administration has decided to set up a metal detector at the entrance to the temple. Notice boards asking devotees to stay away from unclaimed objects and inform the police should they come across any, would be put up on the premises.
As many as 12 CCTV cameras have also been installed at strategic locations. Devotees will be frisked and cameras and mobile phones will not be permitted inside the premises.
During his interrogation, Imam had apparantly listed several temples as possible terror targets. Among them were Baba Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar and Ma Chinnamastika Temple.
The temple, which is located on the confluence of Bhairvi and Damodar rivers, is a Shakti Peeth and is hugely popular among devotees from Bihar, Jharkhand and Bengal.
