Raje praise for Mamata

Calcutta, March 15: Vasundhara Raje Scindia today lauded Mamata Banerjee’s commitment, the comments coming during the Rajasthan BJP president’s maiden visit to Calcutta.

“I keep hearing things about Ms Banerjee (Mamata) but when I look at her commitment, I see that is what women give no matter what field they’re in. And that is what one needs to tap into,” the former Rajasthan chief minister said at a Ficci Ladies Organisation meet at a city hotel.

“I cannot comment on the state because I don’t live here and it wouldn’t be fair. I know her as a person and she has worked very hard. I think we need to admire that commitment, which has been pretty much single-mindedly Bengal,” Vasundhara added.

Addressing a gathering of over 500 Rajasthanis living in Bengal earlier in the day, Vasundhara urged them to campaign for the BJP for the Assembly elections in Rajasthan later this year.

“I want you to come over to your home state to steer the BJP campaign for the Assembly polls later this year to ensure its victory,” Raje said at the Vidya Mandir auditorium on Moira Street.

Bengal BJP chief Rahul Sinha told Vasundhara: “I request you to visit the city first if you become chief minister.”
