Haldia, March 14: Police have arrested two CPM councillors of Haldia Municipality on the charge of arson and are looking for two more, sparking allegations of Trinamul conspiracy by the chairperson who said Left members were being rounded up so that Friday’s budget could not be passed.
The Left and the Trinamul Congress will have 11 members each because of the absence of the four CPM councillors. So the CPM, which will need 12 votes to pass the budget, will be short of numbers.
