CA may take dim view of comments

Calcutta: Cricket Australia (CA) may take a dim view of Pat Howard, the team performance manager, contradicting Michael Clarke on his relationship with Shane Watson.

Howard could also have some explaining to do on his over-the-top comments on Watson, who is back in Australia.

A day after Clarke, the captain, said he didn’t have an issue with Watson, his deputy on the tour of India, Howard announced that there was a problem!

“They have normal difficulties that everybody has in a relationship... The reality is that Michael is a strong driver... The captain and the vice-captain have got to sort their issues out,” Howard told the media on Tuesday.

During that interaction, Howard went to the extent of saying that Watson was only “sometimes” a team player.

That’s a massive indictment.

Watson has, of course, responded in stinging manner. CA, too, may have something to say to Howard.

“Not everybody in CA has been bowled over by Howard’s comments,” a well-placed source told The Telegraph.
