Imphal, March 12: Tekcham Polo Club (A) sailed into the final beating Manipur Police Sports Club(C) by 5-3 goals in the 23rd Governor’s Polo Invitation Cup at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
The policemen looked convincing in the first chukker as they raced home with three goals through Y. Binoy Singh and Nongpoknganba for a 3-0 lead. Tekcham club came back in the second chukker with M. Doren Singh opening his team’s account and later Kh. Tombi Singh pushed home two quick goals to level the score 3-3 in the second chukker.
The Tekcham team further increased the tally through M. Doren Singh to push the total to 4-3 and later M. Manihar Singh proved his mettle, hitting home the fifth goal for Tekcham.
In the 12th Governor’s Women Polo tournament, District Pana Sagol Kangjei beat Imphal Riding Club(B) by 4-1 goals to move into the final.
Handball: An inter-district junior handball tournament is being organised from April 5 to 7 at Jorhat under the aegis of Jorhat District Handball Association, writes our staff reporter from Guwahati.
