Absence blame on truant BDO

Not just the alleged threats, water resources minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary on Monday held the block development officer (BDO) of Paliganj, Sharda Kumari, partially responsible for not being able to attend her office.

The BDO of Patna district has been skipping office allegedly after receiving threats from the sub-divisional officer (SDO)’s office apparently because she had lodged an FIR against the panchayat secretary and another employee of the SDO office.

She charged them with forging her signature in documents related to payments made in old age pension, widow pension and disability pension schemes, said BJP MLA Usha Vidyarthi through a call attention on Tuesday.

She alleged that the fraud was detected after a camp was organised in Paliganj to give money to beneficiaries on November 6, 2012. The BDO lodged a case on December 4 last year.

“Three months on, the police are yet to investigate the case,” the MLA said, alleging that the BDO was scared after receiving threats for filing the FIR and was not attending her office.

Vijay, the minister, said the BDO had made herself unavailable for giving a statement to the police after lodging the FIR.

“The BDO has gone on leave without even informing her seniors,” he said, asking the BJP MLA to urge the BDO to co-operate with the police.

He even offered to provide security to the lady officer.

The speaker asked the water resources minister to get the matter investigated by a senior officer.
