Siliguri, March 11: The Trinamul Congress has issued a whip to all its 15 councillors at the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, asking them to be present during the election to the post of the chairperson on March 13 and vote for the party’s candidate Nantu Paul.
Minister Gautam Deb held a meeting with all Trinamul councillors here today and discussed the election.“We have formally served a whip on all 15 Trinamul councillors, including myself, asking them to vote for Nantu Paul who is our candidate for the civic chairman’s post,” said Deb.
He also said a “sealed envelop” would be handed over to Trinamul general secretary Mukul Roy when he reaches Siliguri tomorrow with Mamata Banerjee. “The envelop will contain the combined opinion of all Trinamul councillors on the state of affairs at the SMC. We will then wait for instructions from the leadership and act accordingly.”
