Reyoungster drub Uripok

Imphal, March 11: A six-wicket haul by Jayenta Singh helped Reyoungster XI beat Uripok Cricket Club by 10 wickets in a match of the MCA Elite Cricket League 2012-13 played at Luwangpokpa Cricket Ground today.

In a low scoring game, Uripok batsmen crumbled under the fiery pace attack of the Reyoungster XI bowlers, packing them out for a mere 56 runs.

Apart from Jayenta, who bagged six wickets, Nicky claimed two wickets and Joychandra and Mahesh picked up a wicket each.

In reply, Reyoungster XI reached the target without losing a single wicket for the convincing ten-wicket victory.

Jayenta Singh was declared the Man of the Match.

Karate seminar

A two-day technical seminar and exam for state referees and judges got under way at the Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan indoor stadium here today.

The United Karate-do Association, Assam (UKAA), is organising the seminar to acquaint the state officials with new rules introduced by National Karate Federation in national championships based on the World Karate Federation's (WKF) regulations. Paramjeet S. Singh of Mumbai is conducting the seminar.

New WKF competition rules of kata and kumite are being taught to participants from 18 districts of the state.

Veteran cricket

Model Club registered a nine-wicket win against NAPSA XI in the 1st 20-20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2012-13 played at Langthabal.

Green Valley lose

Green Valley Sports Club, Guwahati went down 1-2 to PIFA Sports, Mumbai in a Group B encounter of the Second Division I-League at Indore today.

Green Valley will play Bhawanipore FC, Calcutta, in their next match on Wednesday.

Railway soccer

NFR has named a 20-member squad for the 69th All India Railway Football championship to be held at Nagpur later this month.

K.K. Singh and B. Sonowal will accompany the team as coach and manager respectively.

The squad leaves Guwahati for Nagpur on March 16.

Chess

The general body meeting of Guwahati Chess Association will be held on March 17 at Manipuri Basti High School here from 5pm.
