New Delhi: Para-swimmer Prasanta Karmakar’s maiden appearance as a cyclist turned out to be a memorable one as he bagged two gold medals in the para-cycling event of the Asian championship on Wednesday.
Competing in MC 5 class of the individual time trial, Karmakar clocked 16:55.860 seconds to outwit his Indian compatriot Sachin Verma, who finished in 17:15.590 seconds in the 10 km event.
The two Indian riders lined up again in the 40 km individual road race with the country’s most decorated para-swimmer striking gold for the second time in the day, followed by Verma.
