New Delhi: India’s most decorated para-swimmer, Prasanta Karmakar, has now turned his attention to cycling. Winner of more than a dozen international medals, Prasanta would now represent India in the Asian Cycling Championship, beginning here in the capital, on Tuesday.
The Calcutta-born swimmer first came into prominence in 2003 when he won a medal in the World Championship. For the next seven years, Prasanta bagged medals in every major international meet for para-swimmers.
“Now I want to excel in another sport,” Prasanta told The Telegraph. “I could not go to Olympics last time. I hope to represent India in the Rio Olympics in 2016,” added the 32-year-old athlete.
