Kochi: Defending champions Services came back from a goal behind to register a 3-1 victory over 10-man Punjab in the Santosh Trophy semi-final, here, on Friday. Taranjit Singh was sent off due to double booking in the 57th minute.
Seven-time champions Punjab drew the first blood in the 20th minute through Vijay Kumar. But Services scored the equaliser through Lalian Mawia in the 86th minute to end the regulation time at 1-1.
In the extra time, Dhanji Singh struck in the 108th minute to give the lead while Lalian Mawia’s netted his second in the 117th minute to seal the fate of Punjab.
Services will meet Kerala in the summit clash on Sunday.
Punjab looked the more purposeful side and were rewarded for their attacking intent in the 20th minute when Rohit’s header from Taranjit’s pass took a deflection off Vijay Kumar’s chest to find the back of the net.
