The CBSE Class XII exam kicked off on Friday with around 10,000 students trying their luck in the state capital and 12,000 in Dhanbad and Bokaro.
On day one, students appeared for English Core paper. The exam was for three hours, 10.30am to 1.30pm.
There are 10 exam centres in the state capital, including Oxford Public School, Gurunanak Higher Secondary School, Delhi Public School, Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamali, and Surendranath Centenary School.
In Dhanbad, around 5,000 students of 44 schools appeared for the exam at 12 centres while 6,995 took the test at 16 venues in Bokaro.
Manohar Lal, principal of Gurunanak Higher Secondary School, Ranchi, said everything went off smoothly. “The question paper was quite easy and our students came out of the exam hall with big smiles. Of 906 registered students at our centre, 884 appeared for the exam,” he said.
Students also appeared happy.
“The paper was very easy and we are expecting good marks,” said Mahesh Rai of Gurunanak Higher Secondary School.
Principal of Delhi Public School, Dhanbad, K.B. Bhargava, who is also district co-ordinator of CBSE schools, said the examination passed off peacefully at all 12 centres.
They are Kendriya Vidyalaya-I; DAV Public School, Koylanagar; JNMS Senior Secondary School, Digwadih; Indian School of Learning, Jharia; DAV Public School, Kusunda; Lions Public School, Sindri; Rajkamal Saraswati Vidya Mandir; Delhi Public School, Karmik Nagar; Dhanbad Public School; Doon Public School; Ginia Devi Memorial School Kumardhubi; and Balika Vidya Mandir, Jharia.
“All centre superintendents had been instructed to let in examinees only after 9.30am. As such, the students were allowed to enter the exam halls only at 10am. Question papers were distributed at 10.15am. They were given 10 minutes reading time after which the exam started at 10.30am,” said Bhargava.
Day one also passed off without any glitch in the Bokaro centres — Kendriya Vidyalaya-I; Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Sector III; DAV Public School, Sector IV; Chinmaya Vidyalaya; Kendriya Vidyalaya, CTPS Chandrapura; Pits Modern School, Gomia; Guru Govind Singh Public School, Sector V; Delhi Public School, Sector IV; Bokaro Ispat School, Sector VIII; MGM High School; DAV Public School, Swang CCL; Sri Ayappa Public School; Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Dugda; Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Tenughat; The Pentecostal Assembly School, Bokaro; and ARS Public School Bokaro.
Principal of Chinmaya Vidyalaya Ashok Singh, who is the district co-ordinator of CBSE schools in Bokaro, said a maximum number of 774 students appeared for the exam at Sri Ayappa Public School. “No untoward incident was reported,” he added.
The exams will come to an end on April 12.
