Ojha demise
Tinsukia, Feb. 27: Former Assam transport minister Shiv Shambhu Ojha, aged 77, passed away this morning following a sudden illness. Ojha was returning from Delhi in a train when he fell ill at New Tinsukia railway station around 5am and was rushed to a hospital here. He was declared brought dead.
Arrested
Jorhat: Police arrested Pankaj Baruah, Prasanta Bora, Rajat Dutta and Mintu Bora on Tuesday in connection with the grenade attack on policemen at the Kenduguri bypass end on Tuesday morning. All the four were sent to jail custody by a local court on Wednesday.
Timber seized
Jorhat: District administration officials on Wednesday seized 170 cubic feet of timber from Kamakhya Timbers here for not possessing valid documents. The logs have been handed over to the forest department.
Cases
Jorhat: A holiday court held on Saturday on Jorhat judicial court campus disposed of 1,567 cases relating to traffic law violation, excise law violation and other cases under the police law.
