Truck injures 7

Balurghat, Feb. 26: Seven persons were injured when a truck after knocking down a pedestrian started speeding and rammed into a taxi, which overturned and hit two bicycles on the Punarbhaba bridge in Gangarampur at noon today. Apart from the cyclists, two persons in the car were injured.

The truck again collided with a pick-up van coming from the opposite direction, injuring two persons. The pedestrian, who was hit by the truck at Thengapara, 4km before Gangarampur, also suffered injuries. The truck driver fled.

Night buses

Balurghat: Night bus services from here to different parts of north Bengal resumed on Tuesday night after the Balurghat subdivisional officer assured the owners of protection. The 14 private buses had been off the road since February 19 after alleged threats to the owners from workers of the INTTUC.
