Imphal, Feb. 26: Kuki Sporting Club lifted the champion’s title of the 2nd Mairenbam Manindra Memorial Invitation Football Trophy 2013 at Moirang in Bishnupur district today.
The final saw Kuki Sporting Club defeat Manipur State League champion Southern Sporting Union by a solitary goal. The first half was goalless. The only goal for Kuki Sporting came in the 76th minute.
Kuki Sporting Club collected Rs 50,000 and the winner’s trophy, while Southern Sporting Union had to be content with Rs 30,000, with the runners up title. S. Robinson Singh of Dimapur Road Athletic Union was named Best Player of the Tournament. Mangcha Laljem of Kuki Sporting Club fetched the topscorer title with four goals. Tiddim Road Athletic Union was given the Fair Play trophy.
MCA cricket: MCA team registered a seven-wicket victory against Tiddim Road Athletic Union in the MCA Under 14 Cricket Tournament 2013 at Khuman Lampak sports complex.
The Tiddim Road Athletic Union posted 97 runs losing all its wickets in 23 overs with Ashis contributing 21 runs.
MCA bowler Tintin, Pritam and Khagemba claimed three wickets each.
In reply, MCA reached the target in the 15.1 overs losing three wickets. Khagemba scored 36 runs and was adjudged Man of the Match while Sachin got 23 runs.
