The centre for development studies of the Central University of Bihar (CUB) will conduct Development Meet-2013 from March 1-3.
The meet would focus on “Challenges in Development in Bihar”. The CUB has been organising such growth-related meets since 2011.
Bhaskar Majumder, the head of the centre for development studies, said during the three-day meet, experts from across the country would speak on agriculture and food security, rural public works and employment, migration and rural-urban interface, urban development and public delivery mechanism.
Majumder added: “This year, the development meet would focus on the growth-related challenges Bihar face. Areas like employment condition in rural Bihar, food security, child labour would be discussed during the gathering.”
He said a discussion on “sustainable and socially inclusive development of urban water provisioning: a case of Patna” would be discussed too at the meeting. Think tanks from across India would participate in the seminar.
Professor Amiya Kumar Bagchi, the chancellor of Tripura Central University, Malcom Adisheshaia , the professor at Institute of Social Studies (New Delhi), Ursula Rao, the director of Institute of Ethnology, Leipzig, Vijoy Prakash, the principal secretary of planning and development are some of the delegates who would take part in the meeting. During the development meet, students of development studies would present Nalanda Diary, a thesis. The CUB students had carried out a research on the development activities carried out in Nalanda in the past few years.
