Dentists arrested
Two dentists in their late 20s were arrested for allegedly attacking a guard at Nicco Park in Salt Lake on Sunday night. Police said Sujayesh Halder and Avishek Chatterjee allegedly misbehaved with a woman bartender at a private party on the premises. When the guards tried to intervene, the duo allegedly attacked one of them. The dentists have been released on bail.
Cash snatched
Two motorcycle-borne youths snatched Rs 50,000 from a Kestopur resident on Monday afternoon moments after he had stepped out of a nationalised bank. Pradip Ray, in his late 40s, was walking through Rabindrapalli, off VIP Road, when a bag containing the cash was snatched.
Road upkeep
The CMDA will hand over the maintenance of the Rashbehari Avenue and Prince Anwar Shah Road Bypass connectors to the civic body, mayoral council member (roads) Susanta Ghosh said.
Airport
A Jet Airways flight made an emergency landing at the city airport on Monday night. The Mumbai-Calcutta flight, carrying 136 passengers, suffered a snag when it was 37km from the city, prompting the pilot to seek an emergency landing. |
