The damadol premiere

Software engineer Nikhil (Shaheb), aspiring filmmaker Aditya (Samadarshi) and cable guy VK (Rajdeep) are best buddies... till a girl comes along.

VK falls for Ria (Priyanka), who’s engaged to Nikhil. So both friends turn Devdas for a while downing beer. But Nikhil is willing to give up his love for his friend, so Aditya suggests that Nikhil should lie to his fiancee that he is gay. In return for his favour, Aditya — the smartest of the three — gets VK to take him to don Pappubhai (Saswata) to finance his film. Pappubhai agrees to back Aditya’s debut film titled 99 % Love and everything goes as planned, till the ‘gay’ plan boomerangs. One lie leads to another and there’s quite a bit of damadol among the dudes.

The three leading men make up the laugh riot. What they have here is an easy, chilled-out friendship with lots of Dil Chahta Hai-like fun moments. Shaheb’s gay act definitely stands out.

Yet it’s Saswata who steals the show as the funny don who loves to watch TV. His antics and dialogues are ceeti-taali stuff. What doesn’t work for Damadol is the length — two hours and 20 minutes.
