Bratya fear
Education minister Bratya Basu said on Sunday he feared that Madhyamik would be sabotaged. He said the administration would take all steps to ensure the exams were held peacefully.
Baby theft
A 10-day-old baby, who had gone missing while his parents were sleeping on a north Calcutta pavement, has allegedly been sold to a childless couple for Rs 25,000. Police said a couple, Ashoke and Raiman Hela, stole the child on Sunday morning and sold it to a tout, Gopal Kurmi. The tout sold the baby to Sinthee resident Sima Shaw. All except Ashoke have been arrested.
Correction
In the report “Marwari Society at 100”, published on February 22, it was mentioned that Marwari Relief Society has a hospital in Raigunj. The hospital is in Ranigunj. The error is regretted. |
