Centre lifeline for noose city

Jamshedpur, Feb. 23: The city today added one more hope against its fight against the noose.

Narayanashrama Tapovanam, a public charitable educational trust registered in Thrissur (Kerala), today gifted the city a Centre for Inner Resources Development, which is likely to play an active part in curbing the rising number of suicides in the city.

Swami Bhoomananda Tirthaji — the founder of the NGO — inaugurated the Bistupur-based centre, which will also help residents in realising their potentials and excelling in their professional, social and personal lives.

Addressing a gathering after the inauguration, Tirthaji said the centre would hold regular workshops among students and teachers to help individuals discover and harness their inner resources through deeper understanding of the human mind.

“We would help students in making a positive analysis of their life and give them value based knowledge from upanishads and vedas,” Tirthaji said.

The city had witnessed 208 cases of suicides in 2012. The noose kill count this year till January stands at 19.
