CAB pays homage

Calcutta: The mortal remains of Sourav Ganguly’s father, Chandi Ganguly, was brought to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) premises, on Friday morning.

Jagmohan Dalmiya, the CAB president, joint-secretaries Sujan Mukherjee and Subir Ganguly, and treasurer Biswarup Dey were all present, along with the other officials, to pay homage to the former secretary.

Among the former cricketers who were present were Sambaran Banerjee, Pranab Roy, Saba Karim and Arup Bhattacharya. Accompanying Sourav was elder brother Snehasish.

After about half-an-hour, the body was taken to the Aryan Club, where mayor Sovan Chatterjee and urban development minister Firhad Hakim were present to pay their last respects.

Meanwhile, according to sources, a section in the CAB are eager to introduce a tournament named after Ganguly senior. “We’ll first have the condolence meeting on the 28th of this month… Only after that we will think whether such a tournament is possible,” a CAB official informed when asked about the development.
