Kuki club stun North Eastern

Imphal, Feb. 22: Kuki Sporting Club stunned North Eastern Reorganising and Cultural Association by 2-1 goals in the second semi-final of the 2nd Mairenbam Manindra Memorial Invitation Football Tournament 2013 at Moirang multipurpose ground today.

Kuki Sporting Club, who are emerging as a force to reckon in the past year, got off to a flying start with Mangcha Logen hammering home the opening goal in the 12th minute to post the early lead.

North Eastern Reorganisation and Cultural Association managed the equaliser in the 24th minute with M. Tyson Singh netting the ball, to bring relief to its bench.

However, Kuki Sporting increased pace and managed to steal the game away with short passes.

Finally, Mangcha Rogen scored another goal in the 36th minute to post a 2-1 goal win.

Kuki Sporting Club will meet Southern Sporting Union in the final, the date for which is yet to be announced.

N-E Games

The 27th edition of the North Eastern Games 2013 has been rescheduled to be held in Imphal from April 8-11. The meet, which was earlier scheduled for February 21, had been postponed after sports officials from Nagaland and Assam were unavailable because of elections in the respective states.

The discipline to be featured in the games are athletics, boxing, judo, weightlifting, badminton, table tennis, hockey, football, wushu and taekwondo.

All events will be held at Khuman Lampak sports complex and YOSC ground and Eastern Sporting Union ground in Imphal East.
