New Delhi, Feb. 22: The Supreme Court today questioned the government why it was “dragging its feet” on the issue of setting up a special court for holding the trial of two Italian marines.
The court also took exception to the Centre for not following its January 18 directive to consult the Chief Justice of India to set up the special court to try Massimiliano Lattore and Salvatore Girone, accused of shooting dead two Indian fishermen off Kerala coast last year.
The court accepted the plea of the two marines and the Italian government to allow them to travel to Italy for four weeks and cast their ballots for the general election there scheduled for February 24 and 25.
