What: Managereal 2013 — Where The Mighty Dare, the annual inter B-school fest organised by Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management in association with The Telegraph.

When: February 12-13 on the IISWBM campus.

The management dare: The annual management fest, organised by the events team of the institute, provided the managers of tomorrow a platform to test their skills and nerve as they took on their peers in various games and activities.

The theme of this year’s Managereal was ‘Rome’. The idea was to celebrate success through creative thinking, facing overwhelming odds and courage and conviction symbolic of a Roman centurion.

The fest saw participation from colleges like Globsyn Business School, XLRI, Army Institute of Management, Heritage Institute of Technology, Calcutta University, Jadavpur University and Calcutta Medical College.

Day One: Inaugurated by IISWBM director D.K. Sanyal and chief guest S. Mondal, chief manager, State Bank of India (Surya Sen Street branch), the main event kick-started with a debate. An ad spoof event conducted by Nandini Bhattacharjee of Lowe Lintas saw the management students unleash their creativity as they competed to make ‘the perfect ad’. Venelicium, the marketing game, and Numerarius, the finance game, tested not only skills but creativity and out-of-the-box thinking.

Day Two: The second day at Managereal 2013 was another rip-roaring success, packed with events like Alacritas (medley), Justus a Momento (just-two-minutes), Fabrica (the production game), Populas (the human resource game), Solumsolaris (the photography contest) and the final rounds of the magnum opus Optimus Procurator — the best manager game. The first two events of the day — medley and just-two-minutes — were open to the house and became a huge hit with audience and participants alike. The day also saw five participants battle it out at the best manager game to become the “biz king”. The crown went to Mansoor Danish of Globsyn Business School (global campus).

Finale: The fest wrapped up with the official prize distribution ceremony, which was followed by a dance that had organisers and participants shaking a leg!
