Calcutta: Gokul Sharma’s all-round performance — the off-spinner took four wickets and struck an unbeaten 27 — helped Assam thrash Jharkhand by six wickets in a low-scoring match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, at the Eden, on Thursday.
Jharkhand were bundled out for 116, thanks to some disciplined bowling by Assam. With the wicket easing out, the total proved to be a meagre one and Assam cruised to victory with a bonus point. Tajinder Singh top-scored with 37 runs after opener Dheeraj Jadhav (22) gave them a good start.
In the process, they qualified for the next stage of the tournament.
