Dealer arrested

Feb. 21: CID sleuths today arrested an arms supplier with a 9mm pistol from Bhetapara under Basistha police station. The sleuths posed as customers and arrested the supplier, Dipankar Kalita. Two rounds of live ammunition were also seized from him. The youth has been booked under the Arms Act, sources said.

Appointment

Senior bureaucrat Ariz Ahammad has been appointed the new mission director of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan, Assam.

Delegation

A delegation of United Nations Development Programme visited the office of the Kamrup (metro) deputy commissioner on Thursday to study the innovative processes that have been taken up by the district administration for public service delivery.

Conference

The state water resources department organised a two-day Assam water conference at the River Research Station in the city on Thursday. Chief minister Tarun Gogoi attended the conference.

Drama contest

Safura, a city based socio-cultural organisation, is organising the two-day Arindam Kaushik Memorial Drama Contest for children at the Kumar Bhaskar Natya Mandir at Uzan Bazar on Saturday and Sunday.

Alumni meet

The Old Boys Association of Sainik School, Goalpara, will hold its 15th annual general meeting at the Rhino Officers’ Institute at the Narangi army cantonment on Sunday. A get-together of the organisation’s members will also take place after the meeting.

Workshop

Assam Engineering College and Indian Society for Wind Engineering will organise a workshop on wind engineering on Saturday at NEDFi House, Dispur. Delegates from different parts of the country and also from abroad will take part in the event.
