Railway blockade
Kokrajhar, Feb 19: The All BTC Bengali Youth Students Federation today staged a two-hour railway blockade at Basugaon railway station in Chirang district affecting train services. The federation protested against the government for failing to protect the life and property of Hindu Bengalis in the state.
Roof collapsed
Jorhat: A portion of the roof of the newly constructed casualty department of the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital collapsed on Tuesday morning. No one was injured.
Protest
Jorhat: Labourers of Duklangia tea estate on Tuesday staged a protest in front of the office of the tea garden after the manager of the garden allegedly “severely reprimanded” a worker on Monday night. Police sources said the matter was later resolved through the mediation of Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha representing the tea workers’ union.
Eye camp
Jorhat: The Jorhat Lions Eye Hospital in collaboration with the ONGC will organise a series of free eye screening camps in Jorhat and Golaghat districts from February 24 to March 17.
