Garden Reach accused gets bail
Abid Hossain, 40, who was arrested for rioting and attempt to murder in the Garden Reach case, was granted bail on Tuesday. Sources said Hossain had been granted bail despite being booked for non-bailable offences because he was terminally ill. Two others, booked under the same sections, submitted in court that they were juveniles and appealed for their cases to be heard by a juvenile court.
Woman harassed
Sahar Hussain, 30, was arrested on the charge of harassing a woman on Tuesday. Hussain, a resident of Ekbalpore, was allegedly passing lewd comments and making gestures at the woman while she was walking back home to Taratala from Behala.
New flights
AirAsia on Tuesday announced daily flights between Calcutta and Kuala Lumpur from March 25. The airline at present operates three flights a week on the route.
Bus accident
Subho Pal, 17, was run over by the rear wheels of a private bus when he was getting off the bus at Rashmoni Road in Beleghata, around 9.45pm on Monday. He was taken to NRS Medical College and Hospital, where he was declared dead.
