Nothing gets better than this: Fields

Mumbai: For Australian captain Jodie Fields, the night couldn’t get any better.

“We have clinched it for the sixth time now, nothing gets better than this,” she said after leading her side to become World champions.

“We spoke a lot about coming into this match and dominating and I think we did that ... what more can you ask for. It was smart batting by Meg, Jess Cameron and Rachael Haynes ... to come back and score 260 was good for us. I did have a nervous moment at the top of her mark [Ellyse Perry] but she came good for us today ...”

Fields’ deputy Alex Blackwell said it was a special feeling for her and the team. “This is a great job, we didn't have it easy, we were challenged through the tournament, it’s very special feeling, we're going to celebrate this one. We were hoping more like 280, but with runs on the board we backed our bowlers ... lot’s of support from back home too.”
