Imphal, Feb. 17: Charangpat Development Organisation emerged champions of the Under-14 state-level hockey tournament, registering an easy win over South East Youth Organisation by 5-0 goals in the final match at Khuman Lampak hockey stadium today.
S. Aton scored two goals in the 18th and 27th minutes.
L. Dipu (eighth minute), Manikanta Singh (29th minute) and W. Brojendro (48th minute) scored a goal each.
South East tried hard to score in the second half.
However, a strong defence by Charangpat foiled their efforts.
S. Aton of Charangpat was named the Man of the Match.
The Most Promising Player awards went to Y. Nelson of Posterior Hockey Academy and W. Niranjoy of Youth Club Lairikyengbam Leikai.
The Best Discipline Team award was given to Khongman Students Club.
Rowing team: A six-member Assam men’s team will leave for Ezhimala in Kerala tomorrow to participate in the 32nd senior national rowing championship at the Indian Naval Academy there from February 21 to 28. The team comprises Dhiraj Kashyap, Sankar Das, Saurav Borah, Rajtilak Barman, Kangkan Baishya and Dipak Das.
