Nagpur, Feb. 17 (PTI): Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati today voiced her prime ministerial ambition by asking party workers to ensure a “big victory” in the Lok Sabha polls so that she can deliver the Independence Day speech from Red Fort.
“You must ensure a big victory for the BSP so that I can deliver the Independence Day speech as Prime Minister,” the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister told a Nagpur gathering.
The Rajya Sabha MP cautioned party cadres against becoming a “saleable commodity” and urged them to remain alert against forces that might “try to corrupt them” during the Assembly and the Lok Sabha polls.
The BSP mainly has a presence in Uttar Pradesh, which accounts for 80 Lok Sabha seats and around 15 per cent of the total.
Mayawati demanded stringent action against those involved in the VVIP helicopter scam and accused the Congress and the BJP of conspiring to stall the bill on quota in promotion for SCs and STs in government jobs.
