BJP targets Rahul

New Delhi, Feb. 15: The BJP today turned its gun towards Rahul Gandhi and “the family” over the helicopter deal in an attempt to resurrect the Bofors bogey.

BJP national general secretary Kirit Somaiya today wrote a letter to the CBI director demanding a probe into the involvement of Kanishka Singh, a Rahul aide, in the deal.

Quoting a report from the Italian media, Somaiya said main commission agent Christian Michel’s late father was “close to the Congress party” and the other middleman, Guido Ralph Haschke, was a director of Emaar MGF.

Emaar MGF was co-owned by late S.K. Singh, father of Kanishka.

“Prominent signs of Indian connection in the AgustaWestland chopper deal, very similar to the Bofors scam. There is a need to investigate the involvement of Kanishka Singh, Emaar MGF and Haschke in the helicopter scam,” Somaiya wrote.

BJP spokesperson Prakash Javdekar, training guns at the Gandhi family, said: “In two places, the Italian chargesheet talks about payment of euro 28 million to ‘the family’. The nation wants to know who ‘the family’ is?”
