Burnt after assault bid

A 35-year-old Bagaha resident, set on fire on Wednesday after resisting a sexual assault bid, was shifted to MJK Hospital in Bettiah, around 60km north of Bagaha, on Friday.

The victim lives alone at Parsa Auriya village. Police said one Mustaquim Miya entered the woman’s house on Wednesday and allegedly attempted to sexually assault her. When she resisted, the man allegedly set her on fire. He is absconding.

The woman suffered 60 per cent injuries. Bagaha SP Pushkar Anand said a complaint was registered on Thursday after a police team reached the victim’s house around six hours after the attack.
