Road blockade
Tinsukia, Feb. 13: People blocked NH 37 at Doomdooma here today for over two hours demanding justice for the killing of four persons of a family, originally from Dhola in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday. Police recovered the bodies of Sultan Ali, his wife and their two children on Saturday.
Dry day
Jorhat: Jorhat district administration has declared February 14 a dry day in view of panchayat election counting. Liquor shops in the district would remain closed on February 14 and 15.
Arrested
Tezpur: Six persons have been arrested by the police here on Wednesday from Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Mental Health Institute. Police sources said the six were arrested on charges of placing an extortion demand on KMV Project Ltd, a construction company working in the institute.
Court hearing
Guwahati: Gauhati High court on Wednesday reserved judgment of the writ petition filed in connection with liquor shops and bars in the city. The court of justice Ujjal Bhuyan completed hearing of the petition and the judgment will be pronounced at a later date.
