New roles for Vaas, Atapattu

Colombo: Marvan Atapattu and Chaminda Vaas have been named assistant coach and fast bowling coach respectively in the latest shake up of Sri Lanka Cricket set up, SLC officials said on Tuesday. While Atapattu replaces Stuart Law, Vaas will come in place of Champaka Ramanayake.

Blackout

Sydney: Australia’s public broadcaster on Tuesday said it will not broadcast or report live from the upcoming cricket Test series in India after deciding not to pay inflated rights fees. The ABC said it could not afford the broadcast rights fees.

Calcutta: Former wicketkeeper Mark Boucher will be honoured for his service to South African cricket during the Proteas' second Test, against Pakistan, at Newlands, beginning Thursday. Calcutta: Karnataka’s Umadevi Nagaraj, on Tuesday, claimed her fourth national billiards title at Gwalior. In the final, she defeated Keerath Bhandaal of Delhi 70-75, 76-57, 77-44, 77-62.

Calcutta: Udayan Mane grabbed early honours when he shot a three-under-par 69 in the Tata Steel Haryana Open Amateur Golf Championship, at Gurgaon, on Tuesday.
