ED to quiz Koda

Ranchi, Feb. 12: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) will interrogate Madhu Koda and two of his aides all over again in connection with a money laundering scam involving the former chief minister.

The designated court of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) today allowed fresh interrogation of Koda, his close aide Binod Kumar Sinha and managing director of Indo Asahi Glass Factory Bijay Joshi.

Though counsels for Koda and Sinha strongly opposed the ED prayer pointing out that all the accused had been interrogated and that no provision in law exists for reopening the case, the PMLA court of R.K. Choudhary gave permission to the directorate to quiz the trio.

“The court has acceded to our prayer to interrogate the three accused inside Birsa Munda jail,” senior public prosecutor S.R. Das said.

The ED move comes after its sleuths quizzed another close aide of Koda, Anil Bastawade, for 10 days from February 1 in Ranchi.

Though it has not disclosed details, the ED had sought permission to interrogate Koda, Sinha and Joshi again in the light of Bastwade’s revelations.
