Calcutta: Baljit Singh Saini, assistant coach of the Ranchi Rhinos, feels that Mandeep Singh is the one for the future.
The Ranchi Rhinos’ forward was adjudged the most promising player of the Hockey India League (HIL), which the Ranchi team won defeating Delhi Waveriders 2-1, on Sunday.
“He is a great talent. Being the junior team coach, I have seen him developing as a class player. He is not an overnight star. Now, every one is going ga-ga over him. But let me tell you, for the last one-and-a-half year, he has been consistently playing well,” Baljit said, on Monday.
Baljit also heaped praise on Manpreet Singh, who scored the match-winner. “Both Mandeep and Manpreet Singh have been outstanding,” he said.
Baljit was present during the auction last month and he picked up players like Mandeep and Manpreet. “We chose to go for talented youngsters… players who will fight… The result is there for all to see,” he said.
