BCCI grants permission

Calcutta: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has granted director Abhishek Kapoor permission to use footage from the 2001 India-Australia Eden Test, in his upcoming film — Kai Po Che.

India had won that match by 171 runs, but the world remembers it more for the outstanding innings that VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid played. It was also a memorable match for Harbhajan Singh, who had single-handedly decimated the Australians and had also taken a hat-trick.

For his film, Abhishek had wanted permission to use the footage of some celebratory moments from the match.

“We’ve got the rights for using the footage of the famous match.

It was a historic win for the Indian team and I’m very thankful to the BCCI,” Abhishek said.
