Mali battle

Gao (Mali), Feb. 11 (AP): French and Malian government forces today regained control of this strategic northern city, after Islamic fighters fought a battle for hours in the heart of the city.

The brazen assault came after two suicide bombers tried to attack military checkpoints on Gao’s outskirts.

Turkey blast

Ankara (Reuters): A car exploded at a border crossing on Turkey’s border with Syria near the Turkish town of Reyhanli on Monday, killing at least seven, officials said.

US shooting

Philadelphia (AFP): A shooting erupted at a courthouse in Wilmington, Delaware, on Monday, leaving three persons dead, including a gunman, police said.
